If you want to have some of the best northern pike fishing of your life, I have the place for you. A few years back I visited Nakina Ontario in Canada at a fly in lake to fish one week for walleyes and northern pike. This trip is not for your average fisherman. There is no power, and often the only way in or out is by plane. These trips are not that expensive, especially if you buy your food and fly it in with you. Monster pike can be found in many of these lakes since the fishing pressure is not what it is where people can drive too.
The lures and baits you use should be similar to other northern pike lures, as they strike and good sized crank bait, spinner, or spoon. Also, be sure to have a quality rod and reel that can hold a good amount of 10 - 20 pound fishing line. Always use a steel or wire leader as well, since these fish can cut through any normal line.
If you like going for walleye, these lakes also provide great fishing. You can catch 100 walleye a day if you know what you are doing. Check out a search online and find a quality place, since some are better than others. Ontario is a great place to fish, especially the fly in lakes.
On another note, be sure to pack all your equipment, gear, tackle, tackle boxes, lures, baits, as lightly as possible, since there is a limit on how much you can fly in. There are no exceptions so you will have to leave things behind if you are over. You can also opt to have a fishing guide, but many enjoy learning to find the fish on their own, and enjoy the great white north of Canada.
